- I'm an undergrad at the University of Chicago majoring in computer science. I work in the library at the MacLab (a student run computer lab that offers printing, computer tutorials and mini classes, a linux cluster for computer science students and classes, as well as dozens of mac machines for students to use) and next fall will be training to become the security admin. My interests are in networks, systems, and hacking. I like to know how things work and enjoy taking things apart, I also enjoy exploring and seeing how far I can get in hidden areas, especially if it's forbidden. Carelessly unlocked doors and slightly open gates are some of the little things that make me smile. When not being a comp. sci. dork, I enjoy painting and drawing. My style uses bold and bright color mixing different mediums, creating a chaotic color field but using the cohesive yet unique traits of the mediums to bring some order and framework. I enjoy reading science fiction amongst other genres, some of my favorite authors are Kurt Vonnegut, Jack London, and Ray Bradbury while some of my favorite books are Slaughterhouse 5, One Hundred Years of Solitude, and A Tale of Two Cities. I love biking and my old Fuji road bike (which I named Blackbird, yes after The Beatles song) and once in a while participate in Chicago's Critical Mass rides. For exercise I either go to the gym, twirl my old flag corp flag which I love, or join in a gingarte capoeira class (that's Brazilian battle dance). For music, I have a soft spot for punk rock and enjoy The Briggs, Say Anything, and Flogging Molly. On the heavy side I have a lot of love for Mastodon and only Mastodon, because I believe Beethoven would have wrote their music if he had access to an electric guitar and drums. Colony of Birchmen is a masterpiece, Pendulous Skin is sad yet gorgeous, and Divinations is amazing. In movies, my favorites are the Hiyao Miyazaki films Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and Howl's Moving Castle as well as some of his earlier films. I don't care if they're animu, they're gorgeous and well made.
