Berlinale Sprint

Berlin(ale) Plone Sprint.

Berlin, Germany. February 9th-11th 2009

The "Berlinale Sprint" will be a micro Plone sprint running for three days in february. However, most partipants will already arrive early (on friday or thursday) to hang out in Berlin, enjoy the city's attractions and hopefully also get to watch some nice movies at this year's Berlinale.

The sprint will take place in the inofficial "Jarn Berlin Office", located at the junction of Kreuzberg and Neukoelln, i.e. in one of the liveliest and most fun parts of the city. Unfortunately though, as the office is usually inhabited by only three people, it won't take more than 10-12 participants for the sprint. So better be quick to join! ;)

Of course, we won't just be sprinting all the time! We not only have selected a fine choice of places to go out for lunch and dinner (if we may say so ourselves!) but also have some activities planned for the distinguished nerd!

collective.loadtesting

We are going to follow up the work that was begun at last year's Performance Sprint in Bristol. We aim to make releases of collective.loadtesting and collective.funkload with sample test suites that run out-of-the-box as well as finish the documentation on how to create your own suites to measure (and follow) the performance of your own sites and projects.

Lots of JS in Plone 3.x can be cleaned up and/or removed. Also, jQuery 1.3.1 is out and we'll want to upgrade.

Continue working on blob support for Plone, especially with regard to Dexterity.

Template Overrides in Plone 4

Devise a plan for having ONE sane system for overriding templates (considering both TTW and on the filesystem), rather than the current mess of portal_skins + portal_view_customizations + ZCML (+ maybe z3c.jbot). I think this might even be possible :) (Note that this is a different concern from the separate challenges of layout and theming, which are addressed by Deco and Deliverance.)

Improve the tagging interface, make the whole repository marker interface based, easier uploading, better integration with image fields.
