Welcome!

Welcome to the Users' Group!
An Unofficial Space for OpenPlans People
What's this for?
I'd like to have a place to get together with other people who work on OpenPlans.org -- both some of the programmers working on the code running the site, and some of the users doing their work with the site. I'm looking forward to:
- Sharing stories and tips about how people have used OpenPlans to support their initiatives
- Learning more about what we're all doing with OpenPlans and why, and generally getting to know one another
- Talking about what's missing from OpenPlans and how it could be more useful
What will we do?
I'm not sure! I hope that we can develop an answer to that question together over time. To start off, I thought I'd set up this space for communication and try to get things going with a few discussions -- and we'll see where things go from there.
I've started two initial topics on the mailing list to kick things off.
- Introductions: An open thread for people joining the project to introduce themselves and meet the other people in this group. There are so many people doing great stuff with OpenPlans projects, and I'm looking forward to learning more about who you are and what you're doing. Over time, this can also help new people get situated when they join the group.
- How I've Used OpenPlans: A thread to talk about what motivated us to create our projects, the broader goals we're working to achieve, and the methods and tools we've employed within our virtual spaces here to get things done.
Who's this for?
Anyone who's interested in using OpenPlans and talking about making it even better.
Membership doesn't come with any obligations -- since everyone's busy, membership in a group like this shouldn't feel like a burden to anyone. Instead, it's just an open forum for people to drop in and share their thoughts.
If this sounds interesting, I hope you'll join this project!
(Who am "I"?)
Hello! My name is Ethan. For the past two and a half years I've been a developer of OpenCore, the software that runs OpenPlans.org. I became involved through my job at The Open Planning Project and though I'm no longer at TOPP, I am still actively working on the OpenCore software. You can find out more about me on my profile or my introduction on our mailing list, and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or ideas about this project.
