The actual commenting system in Plone is a CMF's legacy and can not be considered as sufficient for a serious CMS.
According to recent developments in the community, we'd like to gather ideas and code and create a pluggable and performant commenting system for plone3.

Main focus

1. Use real objects
2. Store comments on the item itself
3. Use formlib or z3c.form
4. Provide a very pluggable and non intrusive system
5. Make it, of course, full customizable and workflow aware.
