Current Status
The docs team has voted that for now (and possibly never), trailheads will not be implemented. Rather, an effort is going to be made to assign editors and clean up the documentation area. Part of this effort will be aided by changes to the UI for the Documentation section of Plone.org. See proposed revision above.
Moreover, the topics that were listed as proposed trailheads will be examined to determine if documentation needs to be written for those topics using the structure established on this planning site. An example "trailhead" documentation that will be regigged into a standard tutorial is located here: setting up a development environment.
