    hi all,

it is with pleasure, and also a little bit of sadness, that i'm here to 
announce that i am abdicating my role as the maintainer of the membrane and 
remember products.  the sadness is because, counting the predecessor CMFMember 
product, i've been maintaining this software for nearly 5 years now.  the 
pleasure is because i get to announce the very capable ross patterson as my 
successor.

ross is very familiar with both membrane and remember... he's the original 
author of the CMFMember -> remember migration code, and he's been using 
remember in a number of professional contracts over the last couple of years. 
  he understands the technology thoroughly, and is definitely up to the task 
of carrying things forward.  we've had extensive off-line conversations and 
are pretty much on the same page about the current state of things, although i 
know he's very interested in hearing feedback from all of you about your 
opinions about where remember should go from here.

and, even though i'm passing on maintainership, i don't plan on disappearing 
entirely; i'll still be on this list and will answer questions and help out as 
i can.  in fact, i'm looking forward to what happens going forward with some 
new energy and initiative in the mix.

    Rob - Thank you for all your hard work with CMFMember, remember and  
membrane up to this point (and beyond)!  We've been using all those  
products here at Six Feet Up with great success.  Also glad to hear  
you will still be around :)

Ross - Thanks for stepping in to maintain remember and membrane!
