This seminar focuses on the history of artworks and ideas pertaining to what we now often call Contemporary Art Movement - a term that comprises site and situation specific art, performance art, relational aesthetics, collaboration as art, conversation as art, etc. Based on a number of lectures and presentations, we select some artworks and/or readings of which individual students make a close reading and short presentations to foment discussion. In addition, students may present their own work, and we have invited guest lecturers, such as: Helena Erkkilä (Helsinki University) "History of Finnish Performance Art and International Perspectives)", Barbara Formis, University of Sorbonne, Paris: "Reenactment from Duchamps to today" (please note location for lecture: KuvA Auditorium, Kaikukatu 4). Saara Hannula (Aalto University) "Utopian Body" Location: Theater Academy, Room 701 Address: Haapaniemenkatu 6, Helsinki, Finland
