About Mailing Lists

Mailing lists are a great way to keep in touch with a particular group or project.  With our mailing list software you can subscribe yourself to existing lists, or create your own.  Either way, you'll be able to share and receive information on topics that are important to you.

How do I create a new list?

To create a new mailing list, click on the "Mailing List" tab, and select "Add a mailing list." Enter the basic information, and you're ready to go.

List Managers
List managers have added responsibilities. They can add people to the mailing list, see a complete list of members, change list preferences, and make other members managers of the list. Additionally, in an Announce List or Members List, ­managers must approve or deny each post before it is sent to list.­

Archival Method
If you choose, CoActivate will record each email and attachment sent to your list and store it in an archive. This way, all messages are kept in one place for later review. If you don’t want CoActivate to keep a record of your list’s email, select “Do not archive messages.”

How do I subscribe or unsubscribe from a mailing list?

To subscribe to or unsubscribe from a list, click the "Mailing Lists" tab, and then select the list's name. Select the subscribe or unsubscribe button, located underneath "Subscription status."


How do I send a message to a list?

There are two ways to send a message­. You can either send an email to the list's email address (­how do I find my list's address?­), or you can send a message using the website. To use the website, click on “Mailing Lists,” and then select the list you want to contact. Click “Messages” in the top right corner, and then “Write new message.” A message will be sent from your email address to the list.


How do I view a list's information and archived messages?

You can find a list's information by selecting the "Mailing Lists" tab, and then clicking on the list's name. Here, you can see the the list's name, address, security settings, and managers. The top right corner has a few additional links.
Summary contains a list's basic information, including name, address, security settings, and list managers. You can subscribe and unsubscribe from a list at the bottom of the summary page.

Messages contains all the archived messages of a mailing list. By clicking on "Write a new message," you can send a new message to that mailing list.
The search page allows you to search all the archived messages of a mailing list.
