Cultural Sidetrack for the artsprint ]a[ 2011

Theater play "Monstrorum Rex"

This theater play is in German language, but since the director is putting a lot of emphasis on the facial expressions and gesticulation I can recommend it to everyone interested in weird, funny and unique performative art. Tickets are 15€. I might want to buy/reserve tickets in advance, so please inform me (Gogo).

Theater play "Diktator"

Charlie versus Adolf. I've heard rumors that that the play is free this day when you say "Charlie Chaplin" at the cash desk.

Grand Tour of Schönbrunn Palace

Schloß Schönbrunn Kultur- und Betriebsges.m.b.H. has made a generous offer, we could get discount-priced tickets for the "Grand Tour" of the Palace (7,90EUR instead of 12,90EUR). We'd have to show up as a group and I have to inform them in advance, though. We will discuss that.

Paintings Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna

We are invited for a free tour to see some Bosch paintings and other highlights. The current exhibition ("Rückkehr der Alten Meister") is a good chance to see the brand new renovated area of out famous Paintings Gallery - they are BACK. Take a look at the homepage of the Paintings Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.

Every day and night's leisure and pleasure

  • For relaxed beer and enjoyable (small) dishes you might want to go to Käuzchen, Möbel, Zipp, Wirr, and hundreds more. The neighbourhood of the sprint location is packed with bars. The Joanelli has no website, but we should go there (the one with the blank shield), and then continue to the Einhorn just next to it.
  • Our sprint location is in the same street as the famous Donau Club at Karl-Schweighofer-Gasse 10 (the gray door next to the sign). This no-entrance-club opens early (at 6pm) and usually stays open until 3am on weekdays, maybe 5am on weekends. It is a very relaxed location that used to be a synagogue, no signs, no ads, no obvious entrance. Dimmed light and cool visuals. They keep the music low, because of their neighbours. It is not over-priced. We should also go to Tanzcafé Jenseits together, they play jazzy music in a slightly wicked atmosphere.
  • For allnighters and afterhour there's Goodman's (they deliberately have no website) - I have asked them and they are open 3am to about 8am weekdays, 3am to about noon on weekends. On weekends there's even more options, but that's not for the official page - the sprint ends on Friday, remember? If you are staying let me (Gogo) know. I'd show you around.
