      Installing from svn seems to be the way to go:

    I can confirm this is a problem for me as well.

      Are you using the latest pip version from subversion?

      I know back in November I got a similar error using the released version.

        No, I follow this:

           http://deliverance.openplans.org/quickstart.html

        all but I have downloaded the deliverance bundle separately,
        so the version of pip is 0.3.1, that I think is the egg on pypi.

        So I tried the svn trunk version:

        ...
        Checking out deliverance checkout from None (from None)
          Running setup.py egg_info for package deliverance
            Error [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/tmp/pip-34FP1m-build/src/deliverance' while executing command python setup.py egg_info
        Exception:
        Traceback (most recent call last):
          File "./src/pip/build/lib/pip.py", line 263, in main
            self.run(options, args)

            req_to_install.run_egg_info()
          File "./src/pip/build/lib/pip.py", line 1370, in run_egg_info
            command_desc='python setup.py egg_info')
          File "./src/pip/build/lib/pip.py", line 3546, in call_subprocess
            cwd=cwd, env=env)
          File "subprocess.py", line 593, in __init__
            errread, errwrite)
          File "subprocess.py", line 1135, in _execute_child
            raise child_exception
        OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/tmp/pip-34FP1m-build/src/deliverance'

        it seems the same error...

        (By the way 'easy_install Deliverance' is ok but the version is 0.2.1)

    I encounter the exact same problem. I tried the folowing.

    (DelivTest)helmantel@clandestino:~/projects/DelivTest$ ./bin/pyinstall.py
    ~/Downloads/Deliverance-snapshot-latest.pybundle

    and also:

    (DelivTest)helmantel@clandestino:~/projects/DelivTest$ ./bin/pip install
    ~/Downloads/Deliverance-snapshot-latest.pybundle

    I use the python and easy_install executable that are inside the virtualenv I
    created and tried both python 2.4 as well as 2.5. Whichever combination I
    choose, I get stuck with:

    Unpacking /home/helmantel/Downloads/Deliverance-snapshot-latest.pybundle
      Running setup.py egg_info for package from
    file:///home/helmantel/Downloads/Deliverance-snapshot-latest.pybundle
        Traceback (most recent call last):
          File "<string>", line 13, in <module>
        IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory:
    '/tmp/pyinstall-R5uceT-build/setup.py'
        Complete output from command python setup.py egg_info:
        Traceback (most recent call last):

    IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory:
    '/tmp/pyinstall-R5uceT-build/setup.py'

    Any ideas?
