The PsyClone music festival was a three-day, two-zone celebration of local musicianship in the city of Ōtautahi (Christchurch), Aotearoa (NZ), held in 1998. Envisioned as a way of raising funds to open an artist-run music venue for the city, PsyClone was organised by a three person core crew, supported by a multitude of volunteers. All the bands and DJs played for free, and various organisations offered deals on venue and sound system hire to support the cause. No public funding was sought, in the hopes that keeping the costs low, and having a very reasonable ticket price to attract large crowds to cover, would generate enough income to cover costs, and leave a surplus to donate towards the incorporated society which had been set up to run the planned venue.

More information about this event, the philosophy behind it, who was involved, and how it worked out, will be added to this site over time.
