Even Pirates respect women! Some time back the kiwi Pirates had a discussion about how to improve the gender balance in the membership, and make the organization more open and welcoming of new members from a diverse range of backgrounds. Being a sensitive topic, the members chose to have that discussion in private. But the collection of amazing online talks aggregated there, by some of the prominent women in the commons movements, is well worth sharing publicly. Since I'm no longer an active member of the NZ Pirates, I will continue to expand it here. The content here is still formatted in MarkDown for Loomio.

[WebVisions](http://www.webvisionsevent.com/) is a web conference that happens in a number of cities around the US and Europe and there are a [number of women speaking](https://www.loomio.org/d/o1s9eQZH/comment/973432) this year. The [Challenge Power conference](http://www.webvisionsevent.com/) in Berlin, 11-12 March 2016, had a number of women speakers. The [Platform Cooperative 2016](https://livestream.com/internetsociety/platformcoop2016/) conference had a large number of women speaking. Just need to figure out how to get individual URLs for the videos.

The [Social Working Group](https://www.w3.org/wiki/Socialwg) at the WC3 has a number of women members, including Ann Bassetti, Wendy Seltzer, Jessica Tallon, and Amy Guy. I've already found a number of videos of Wendy Seltzer, but with a bit more searching the Ann, Jessica, and Amy may have talks online somewhere too.
