NAIT Ltd (National Animal Identification and Tracing) is an "industry-owned company" which regulates the RFID chipping of all cattle and deer farmed in Aotearoa/ NZ. The stated purpose of this program is to manage and reduce the spread of the diseases which affect stock, while allowing the long distance transport of large numbers of animals which are convenient to factory farming and large-scale agribusiness. As of 2012 the Animal Health Board are being merged with NAIT Ltd, as a result of the National Animal Identification and Tracing Act 2012. NAIT was placed under the management of OSPRI , when it was formed in 2013.
