Web based collaboration and activism: Shared concerns

This project was an outcome of an initial meeting between folks from Open Society Institute and The Open Planning Project.  Over the course of the last few years, both organizations have invested significant time and money in the development of group-centric web collaboration tools, using largely the same technologies to achieve very similar ends.  After getting together to compare notes, it seems reasonable that there might be ways in which the two organizations can work together.  How this might work is very vague at this point, but the concerns are so similar (and the missions of the organizations are so complementary) that it seems almost certain that work can be shared to the benefit of both.
